Lakhsma's tryst with destiny!

What a great fall!True, time does not go on an even keel. Lakshman Seth, once an uncrowned prince of East Midanapore, the most influential Citu leader, ruling the roost at Haldia for long , elected MP from Tamluk thrice in a row, a member of CPM state secretariat and above all the most pampered child of Allimuddin street has been ousted from the party. A queer tryst with destiny, indeed! His ouster came in the wake of his indulging in spewing venom on top leadership of his party and heaving praise on Mamata Banejee for prevailing peace at present at Jangal Mahal and hills. He scanthingly criticized Buddha Bahattacharyaya for his weak and improper governance and inept handling of situations including Nandigram episode. He claimed he has been made a scapegoat in Nandigram incident which, in fact, triggered down slide in his political career. His out burst against his own party came in after Allimuddin initiated an enquiry into alleged charges of corruption against him, though the enquiry was kept on hold for the time being perhaps considering resistance from his followers at his own place. He,however, spelt out he’d not renew his party membership and spoke his mind to quit party also. However, his unbearable attitude later left no alternative to Allimuddin but to expel him from the party. What’s unfortunate, when charges of corruption and carping criticism about his authoritarian behavior were doing round long way back, party leadership kept a blind eye to such allegations, if not encouraged them. Wasn’t it too late to put him on the right track?

  1. Fact remains that Mr Sett has been victimised at the alter of expediency by the arm chair bosses at Alimuddin. Nandigram episode was a totally foolish whimsical unrealistic endeavour. Leaderslike Buddhadeb-Nirupam simply issued order to leaders like Lakshman Seth to execute. Without any discussion or preliminary preparedness notice for acquisition was sent to Haldia with instruction for Lakshman Seth to carry out diktat. When situation worsen Seth was squarely blamed. He had to undergo crucial ordeal&incarceration-while bosses in Kolkata passed days safely and having no trouble.Leaders responsible for the ouster of the LF has never been brought to book by the party. They are o.k. from Kolkata to New Delhi. Yes politicians sometimes had to had liaison with diverse elements. Media in most cases made somebody villain and others super god. Lakshman Seth as I knew him has always been a sincere devoted and out right fighter for the cause he espoused. Developments in Haldia has been primarily due to wholehearted and missionary zeal of Seth. His CRITICISM is apt and correct. We know people in the LF has been drowned in malpractices and other activities. But NOT al. Leaders who were corrupt and responsible for the ouster have never been taken to task. Purging must start from TOP not from the BOTTOM. Leaders took the usual course of action =GIVE DOG THE BAD NAME&HANG. Leaders are scared of grass root leaders&cannot face them head on. Similar happened with Rezzak Molla. When stalwarts like Buddhadeb&Nirupam got rejected by the electorate, Rezzak Molla not only widened his margin of victory but was instrumental in defeating TMC sitting MLA like Arabul Islam. Who bothers for that. Mr Molla has been consisting critic of these arm chair and inept leaders-result expulsion.
