Neither the Principal nor the teachers of Christ Church School were directly involved in Aindrla’s death. She was confined in a toilet for some time after school hours by three
senior students to fleece her money.Accidently the sweeper heard her cry and rescued her. She was so traumatized by the incident that she died in a few days even after receiving medical attention. The guardians and teachers became furious to know Aindrila’s death and went on the rampage. They mercilessly destroyed school properties and zeroed in their all rage on the Principal who pleaded innocent. But the guardians and students kept spewing venom on her till she resigned and police arrested her at the end of the day.
Was not the Principal more sinned against than sinning? It may be.But it’s her own fault for which she had to wallow in hell fire whole day. She reportedly didn’t show sympathy to the little girl who died because of ragging. Nor did she decide to punish those students who ragged the girl. It seemed she didn’t give due weigtage to such a tragic incident that bled every heart.Perhaps, she’d to pay for her insensivity and indifference. That apart, it might be the outburst of her persistently bad beviour to the guardians and students as is evident in her pupils’ open criticism of her bad temperament.
With the deepest sorrow welled up in his heart in the wake of parting with her only daughter for ever father said,’My daughter gave away her life to save thousands of students from rigging’.He also added,’Agitation could have been done in a democratic way’.
